The United Pentecostal Church-North East India, Kangpokpi local and Kangpokpi section celebrated its Silver Jubilee on Sunday at Kangpokpi town.
Established in 1998 though, UPC-NEI Kangpokpi local could not celebrate its Silver Jubilee in 2013 for which it was celebrated jointly with the section Silver Jubilee this year.
The jubilee of UPC-NEI Kangpokpi was celebrated under the theme, "He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved" (Psalm 62:2) and the section jubilee was celebrated under the theme, "The Lord is my rock and fortress and my deliverer" (Psalm 18:2).
Reverend R Lalrinsanga, General Superintendent, UPC-NEI unveiled and dedicated the monolith erected to commemorate the momentous occasion.
A Souvenir published to commemorate the Silver Jubilee was also released on the occasion.
A traditional gong was also beaten 25 times after the unveiling and dedication of the jubilee monolith to commemorate the auspicious event.
General Superintendent of United Pentecostal Church-North East India, Reverend R Lalringsanga said that it is a great joy that the UPC-NEI Kangpokpi section completed an eventful journey of 25 years in its ministry.
He continued that the work of the selfless devotion of the leaders and the members of the UPC-NEI Kangpokpi section for the kingdom of God during the last 25 years had been commendable and praiseworthy.
Let the auspicious occasion bring about a new yearning to save the losing souls among all members of the section, he wished before adding that it is my desire and prayer that efforts are given at a larger scale to bring about our great mission - to sheave for Christ.
Elder S. Lunlal, Secretary of the UPC-NEI Kangpokpi section, highlighted the brief history of UPC-NEI Kangpokpi local and Kangpokpi section on the occasion.
Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship leaders, different church leaders across the state, various local church leaders, and Kangpokpi local bodies including Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization, and Kangpokpi Youth Union also attended the silver jubilee celebration.
