Ukhrul police rescue woman from alleged suicide bid

Ukhrul police led by SI Marchang W saved a Nepalese woman who was allegedly found hanging from a tree in the jungle of Rayotang Ukhrul on Saturday.

According to sources, the condition of the newly married woman is found to be stable. The incident reportedly occurred at around 11 am. Police sources said that on receiving reliable information that a young woman was found hanging from the branch of a tree in the said jungle, Ukhrul police led by SI Marchang rushed to the spot. 

On preliminary examination, the woman seemed to be still alive, sources said. Prior to performing any legal formalities, the woman was immediately rushed to a hospital in a police vehicle in their bid to save her life. The doctors of Leishiphung hospital, Ukhrul put in all out efforts and saved the woman. Now the condition of the woman is stable, sources said.

The reason behind the alleged suicide attempt, however, could not be immediately known. In this regard, Ukhrul Police has registered a GD entry for further enquiry, as per sources.
