Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul District Krishna Kumar on Sunday visited the victim's family of the two women swept away by the swift current on October 24 while crossing the river of their paddy field at Poi village with relief materials of essential commodities like rice, oil, dal etc.
The DC of Ukhrul consoled the two victim's family and assured every possible help the district administration would give in tracing the victim's body. He also said any further greviances of the family members would be given.
The incident happened when the two women went to their paddy field on the fateful day. As the rain fell for the whole day in the area, when they return, the volumn of the water in the river where they had to cross rose. While attempting to cross, the swift current of the river swept away both women.
While the body of RS Ngamreila was found at Tusom river after an intensive search by the Disaster Management of Manipur in collaboration with the Ukhrul District Police, the local and nearby villages volunteers on October 27, the other victim's body of RS Ramreila is yet to be traced.
The visiting team included SDO Ukhrul Suranjoy Maibam Singh and DRDA PO Roland.
