Several people staged a sit-in-protest at Telipati, Imphal East on Saturday, demanding the authorities concerned to immediately book the culprits involved in the killing of one Sailendra Saha by armed miscreants in Imphal East.

Sailendra was shot dead by unidentified armed miscrenats at Uchol Chingjin located along Andro-Ngariyan road at a distance of 5 km from Andro Police station in Imphal East around 4 pm Friday, police said.

“Sailendra was the sole breadwinner of the family. Who will look after the family members including the three daughters now?” he questioned.

Those miscreants behind the incident should clarify why Sailendra was killed, he added.

According to police, Sailendra, who worked as a supplier of grocery items, was on his way on a two wheeler (heavy duty) when he was allegedly shot by two miscreants who came on a scooter (Activa). Sailendra is survived by his wife and three daughters.

On receiving information, a team led by OC of Andro police station along with a Forensic Science Laboratory team arrived and took up inspection at the site. From the site of the incident, four empty cases of 9mm rounds as well as one live round were recovered, police said, adding that the body is kept at JNIMS mortuary.
