Two women sympathisers of MNPF arrested

Two women were arrested around 5.30 am during a raid conducted at the residence of Yaingangpokpi Awang Leikai local.

A combined team of state forces, including women police personnel, arrested two women Over Ground Worker (OGW) of banned Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF) on Thursday morning from Yainganpokpi area.

According to police, the two women were arrested around 5.30 am during a raid conducted at the residence of Yaingangpokpi Awang Leikai local.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Jorah Jajo, 42, wife of Ruichumhao Jajo, and Leisa Jajo, 22, daughter of Ruichumhao Jajo of Nongdam (T) Village, Nongdam Lamlong Ukhrul, Manipur.

It is learned that Jorah Jajo is the wife of the MNPF finance secretary (Ruichumhao Jajo).

The combined comprises of Special CDO Unit Khabeisoi, CDO-IW, CDO-IE, Ukhrul District Police, and women police constable of Porompat Women Police Imphal East led by Subedar L Bebekananda Singh OC-SPL/CDO, assisted by Jem Thangminlen Khongsai under the command of Md Riyaj, DSP(OPS) Imphal West under the supervision of Th Krishnatombi Singh, SP/Railways & In-Charge Special CDO unit, Khabeisoi under the overall guidance of Ningshem Vashum, (IPS) SP-UKhrul.

Police further said that the rented residence from where the two women OGW were arrested belonged to Thingom Robindro Singh, 49, son of (L) Th Tombi Singh.

On verification the detainee reportedly confessed to being OGW MNPF working under the command of one Ruichumhao Jajo, S/S Finance Secretary of MNPF, said the police adding that assorted articles including mobile phones, rations meant for distribution for UG cadres among others were recovered from their possession.

Subsequently, they were arrested on the spot at around 7.15 am. The arrested persons along with seized items were handed over to Yaingangpokpi police station for taking further necessary legal action against them.
