Four drug peddlers, including two women, have been arrested with suspected WY tablets in Kangpokpi, police said on Monday.
According to the district police, the four individuals were identified as Satminlun Tuboi (24), son of Thangboi Tuboi of Saikul bazar, Thangkholen Haokip (42), son of Paojathong Haokip of Chikim veng Moreh, Tengnoupal district, Lhaineineng Haokip (41), wife of Thangkholen Haokip, and Hethem Sitlhou (39), wife of Kamminthang Sitlhou of Motbung in Kangpokpi district.
Police said the arrest took place during an intensive frisking and checking conducted by a combined team of Kangpokpi police station and Gamnom Saparmeina Police Station under the supervision of SP Kangpokpi. The team stopped a Maruti Alto car bearing Regd No. WB06E-5881 at Motbung, the police said.

Police further said that during the preliminary inquiry, the driver and the three occupants denied possession of any contraband items. However, due to their suspicious manner, the vehicle was followed and stopped near Hengjang village along the National Highway-2.
The driver finally took out five bundles wrapped in plastic packets containing suspected WY tablets weighing 4.568 Kg (approximately) from the vehicle in the presence of DSP, Gamnom Saparmeina PS, SDO Saitu. The contraband items were seized in the presence of the Magistrate and two independent witnesses on the spot by following formalities and the four accused persons were arrested, police said.
FIR No.14(7)2022 GSPM-PS u/a 22(C)/29/60(3) NDPS Act has been taken up for further investigation, police added.
