Two sent to jail for illegal transportation of Rohingya

One from Bangladesh and another from Kolkata were arrested from Imphal International Airport on December 5 by a team of police from Singjamei PS.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West on Monday remanded one Rohingya from Bangladesh and another from Kolkata, who had helped in illegal transportation of Ronhingya, to 15 days judicial custody.

The two, identified as Jama Tara, 18, D/o Hussain Ahmed of Bangladesh and Zakir Hossain Sekh, 26, S/o Faiyaz Sekh from Kolkata were arrested from Imphal International Airport on December 5 by a team of police from Singjamei PS.

Both of them were produced before the court on Monday after completing the five days police custody with fifteen days judicial remand prayer by the police.

According to the complainant, the two were detained at the airport in relation to suspicion of a fake Aadhaar card while conducting verification of the passengers for the issuance of ILP.

While questioning, it came to light that Jama Tara was traveling with Zakir Hossain and both were detained over suspicion of smuggling and illegal business.

From further investigation by police, it further came to light that the Rohingya lady was traveling with a fake Aadhaar card which was made in Hyderabad while Zakir Hossain was associated with her in making fake documents. It was also found that Jama came to India without valid documents by road.
