In another attack carried out by suspected militants, two personnel of the Assam Rifles were left injured on Saturday. This has been the fourth incident of attack on security forces by heavily armed miscreants so far.
The Assam Rifles area domination patrol team was fired upon by a group of unidentified armed personnel in a forest area near VillSipijang village in Senapati district on Saturday, ‘SpearCorps.IndianArmy’ said in a Twitter post on Saturday.
As the AR team retaliated, some unidentified persons fled from the incident site, it stated, adding that two rifles and some ammunitions were recovered.
Another Twitter post on the same page stated that the joint army and AR domination patrol was fired upon by a group of unidentified armed personnel on Saturday from the forest area of Lailampat in Churachandpur district.
Two AR personnel sustained gunshot wounds and have been evacuated, the Indian Army tweet mentioned. It added that the fire retaliation and operation was continuing.
On May 10, an AR jawan was injured at Dolaithabi, Imphal East district when some unknown miscreant fired upon the AR.
On May 11, a Manipur commando police died and six sustained injuries when they were fired upon by arms militants at Tronglaobi, Bishnupur district.
