Keithelmanbi and Chassad battalions apprehended two active insurgents belonging to PREPAK and PLA in two separate operations in Imphal West and Kamjong districts on Monday, IGAR (South) said on Tuesday.
Based on specific inputs from reliable sources, troops of Assam Rifles launched operations during which the two individuals were apprehended, IGAR (South) stated in a release.
The apprehended insurgents were handed over to Nambol and Kamjong police stations for further investigations, it added.
The release from IGAR (South) further stated that Chandel battalion under the aegis conducted tree plantation drives in Pallel on Monday as a part of the Go Green Initiative.
The tree plantation drives were conducted with the aim to control global warming, make environment pollution free and spread awareness on the importance of a clean environment.
As part of the initiative, nurseries were constructed and tree saplings of various species were planted on the occasion, it added.
