After eight Congress members of autonomous district council (ADC) joined the BJP at a reception ceremony recently held at imphal, which was attended by the chief minister of Manipur and BJP Manipur president, two ADC members submitted resignation letters on Saturday.

The two members of Churachandpur ADC who submitted resignation letters were executive member Lalhrillien and deputy chairman Genneihkhup Vaiphei. It was not confirmed if ADC chairman T Paukhanlian has accepted the resignation letters till the filing of this report.

The two ADC members in their resignation letters stated that the inductions of eight members to BJP had changed the dynamism of council formation in democracy where majority rules. Citing that the majority of the members opted for a change in the administrative set up, the two members stated that they tendered their resignation to pave a way for the party to install a new se up of administration.
