Truck driver dies of electrocution

A truck driver died of electrocution after his vehicle came into contact with a high voltage electricity wire at Old Wangpral Village in Chandel.

A truck driver died of electrocution after his vehicle came into contact with a high voltage electricity wire at Old Wangpral Village under Chandel police station in Chandel district at 3 pm on Tuesday, sources said.

Police said the deceased has been identified as one Abhijit Singha, 32, of Deochhara from North Tripura. He was transporting spare parts and stones on the truck (MI 11-1987) of GR Infraprojects Ltd from a stone crusher unit located at the mentioned village.

He fell off from the vehicle after it came into contact with the power line. He was immediately rushed to Jeevan Hospital in Kakching where the doctor declared him dead.  

In connection with the case, Chandel police station has registered a case and post mortem of the body wasa conducted at JNIMS, Imphal.

It is learnt that GR Infraprojects Limited is currently involved in the construction of Imphal-Moreh highway and they use the stones from the stone crushing unit at Wangpral village.
