Speaking on the occasion, THAAM president Ngatangmi Hungyo pointed out that most of the states in India have tribal Haats but there is a lack of tribal haats in Northeastern states, including Manipur.

He stated that the various vegetable and fruit, handloom and handicrafts products cultivated and made in the interior part of the hill districts can be easily made available in the valley district and help improve the economic condition of the farmers if a permanent tribal haat is established in the valley.

Informing that THAAM had planned to hold a Tribal Haat Expo in January next year with the motive to encourage and expose the talent of the tribal farmers and artisans and provide a space to sell their products.
