Training programme for increasing ‘Chak-hao’ production launched

A cluster of 200-300 persons exclusively for women will be created to practice food processing in order to generate their income, says Rajib Kangabam.

A three-day training programme on ‘practical training on locally available cereal processing with special emphasis on Chak-hao (local black rice) for income generation of rural women’ was launched at community hall of  Kamong Longjam Leikai, Imphal West on Thursday.

The training programme was organised by BIRAC Regional Techno-Entrepreneurship Promotion Centre (BRTC), Kalinga institute of industrial technology (KIIT), technology business incubator (TBI), Bhubaneswar and Imphal to encourage women entrepreneurs by adopting modern technology.

Speaking on the occasion, manager of BRTC, KIIT and TBI Rajib Kangabam said the programme was organised to encourage the womenfolk of rural areas by giving them awareness on how to adopt modern technology through the indigenous paddy farming. After the training programme, a cluster of 200-300 persons exclusively for women will be created to practice food processing in order to generate their income, he added.

He further said BRTC, KIIT, TBI and Bhubaneswar green foundation have signed a memorandum of understanding to get more social economy for rural women.

Chief executive officer of Green Foundation Manipur, U Himat Singh as president of the function said the training programme will give more knowledge to the rural women while practicing their farming in addition to the indigenous method of farming. With the addition of advance technology of farming, rural women can produce more yields and they can get more economy, he added.
