Imphal valley wore a deserted look and normal life was thrown out of gear on Wednesday as a proscribed outfit National Revolutionary Front (NRFM) imposed total statewide bandh in opposition to the Manipur Merger Agreement of September 21, 1949.

All shops and private establishment remained closed in Imphal valley. And the streets wore a deserted look as vehicles remained off the road in view of the bandh.

The NRFM had issued the bandh call on September 18, stating that "all the rights of Manipuris were forfeited" on September 21, 1949.

No untoward incidents were reported so far and the bandh was peaceful till the filing of this report.
