Three doctors suspended for negligence of duty

Three doctors were suspended immediately for allegedly defying the government orders and failing to report for duty on Thursday.

Three doctors were suspended immediately for allegedly defying the government orders and failing to report for duty on Thursday.

Joint secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Manipur Dr Yumnam Suraj has issued a suspension order of three doctors for disregarding the government order and failing to report for duties at Community Health Centre Jiribam.

The suspended doctors were identified as anaesthesia specialist Dr Feiga Luckson Gangmei, anaesthesia specialist Dr Oinam Bisu and plastic surgery specialist Dr Laishram Oken of District Hospital Thoubal.

The order further mentioned that, the three doctors were suspended for dereliction of duties and disciplinary proceedings were contemplated against them under sub-rule (1) of Rule 10 of the Central Civil Services Rule 1965. Their headquarters would be in Imphal headquarter and directed not to leave the headquarters without prior permission of the authority concerned.

Director of Health Services Dr O Sanahanbi had instructed four doctors and three staff nurses to be stationed at CHC Jiribam, on June 8, citing the prevailing law and order situation in the district. However, among the four doctors only one reported for duty resulting in the suspension of the three doctors.

Following the failure of the three doctors to turn up, Dr Sanahanbi issued another order on June 11 to report for duty by June 12, warning with stern action if they failed to do so.
