Around 40 Congress supporters of Heirok joined the BJP on Sunday after entrusting their faith in the leadership of Heirok assembly constituency MLA Th Radheshyam.
They are from polling numbers 33/31, 33/33 and 33/39 of the assembly constituency.
The MLA accorded a warm welcome to the new BJP members during a function held at the residence of Kh Subol of Heirok Keithel.
Speaking as the chief guest of the occasion, Radheshyam sought cooperation from the people in developing the assembly constituency as a model assembly constituency where peace prevails with mutual love and respect among the people.
He further appealed to the people to work with unity and proper planning about the developmental activities that may be taken up in the assembly constituency in the next five years. “I as a representative of the people will make sure that the desires of the people are materialized,” he assured.
The MLA also alleged that one former MLA of the assembly constituency is misleading the people, announcing to provide lands through a trust ‘Land Bank’. “Bank is a place where something is accumulated together. But land cannot be accumulated in a similar manner. Even the lands that are proposed to be provided are not by the owners. The former MLA claiming to give the land owned by another is a huge bluff to the people of Heirok,” he said.
President of BJP Heirok Mandal Thokchom Chourjit, member of Heirok Zilla Parishad T Nungshi, Pradhan of Heirok Part-III Ningthoujam Tangba among others were also present during the occasion.
