Third topper Manipur HSLC exam 2022 reveals story behind her dream

Jesia Khwairakpam, one of the third position holders of the Manipur High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2022, dreams of serving the people by becoming a doctor since as a child, and shares her motivational story behind the dream in an interview.

Jesia Khwairakpam is the first daughter of Khwairakpam Hilari Singh and RK Bhanisana Devi of Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi, Imphal West.

In the examination, she secured a total mark of 584 out of 600 by scoring letter marks in all the six subjects of which she scored full marks in Mathematics, 99 marks in home science, which is an additional subject, 97 marks in both Social Science and Manipuri (Meitei Mayek), 96 marks in English and 95 marks in Science.

Her parents, Hilari and Bhanisana, are the founder and principal of Ratankumar Memorial School, Kwakeithel, Heinoukhongnembi respectively.

Jesia, during an interview at her residence, said she was excited to hear the news that the result of HSLC examination of class X was declared.

 "When I saw the result first, I checked my name in the first position, then in the second position. But I saw my name as the third position holder. I expected to become a topper but I am still excited and happy that I stood third position in the HSLC examination,” she said.

Sharing her dreams and ambition, she said, “I want to serve the people by becoming a doctor as there are many people in the state living below or in poverty. By considering the society, I will try to provide treatment at minimum cost as the cost of treatment at present is becoming higher as compared to the olden days”.

She narrated that, when she was a child, one of her uncles died as there was no proper facility for treatment of her uncle and lack of financial status was a stumbling block. Since then, she aimed to become a doctor to serve the needy, she added.

Responding to the media, she said that three months before the examination was to start, she would stick only to her books besides other household activities. During her leisure time she used to read novels and walk around the campus of her house as a physical activity, she said.

Jesia said she gives credit for her success in the HSLC examination to her parents, teachers, relatives and to those who encouraged her.

She said her hobby is reading all types of novels and swimming.

Hilari said her daughter started her schooling in his school from class VI. Since then, she has been a topper in the class, he added.

Jesia shared the third rank with Menaka Huidrom of Eureka Academy with 584 marks each.
