The Thadou Students’ Association (TSA-GHQ) held its 66th General Assembly at Hotel Fortune, Guwahati, Assam on September 28 and 29, 2023, respectively.
The general assembly was held outside Manipur for the first time ever in its history, stated a release. TSA branches’ condemn the ongoing violence, call for justice to all the victims and non-violent, peaceful, and permanent solutions to the problems besieging the state, it stated.
Leaders of all TSA branches, blocks, units, and advisors attended the general assembly both virtually and physically, it stated. Former president of Thadou National Council (now Thadou Inpi), Pu SH Seipu hoisted the TSA flag on the Assembly’s opening ceremony on September 28, 2023, while vice president of Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP-GHQ), Pu C Lalremruata, took part in the valedictory event on September 29, it mentioned.
Attendees also paid obituary reference to former leaders of TZA during the assembly, it added. Elections for new tenure of TSA-GHQ for 2023–26 were also held by the election commission of general headquarters (ECGHQ), TSA-GHQ represented by the Permanent Council, TSA-GHQ, on the closing day, where in new CWC members were elected on the occasion, it stated.
A consultative meeting on the Rights of the Indigenous Peoples with Special Reference to the Thadou Tribe was also held under the aegis of the TSA-GHQ on September 30, the release mentioned.
Intellectual discussions on the on-going Manipur Crisis: its Genesis, Challenges, and the Way Forward, and Unrelenting Resurgence for a Brighter Thadou Tribe were held during the meet, it added.
