Termination order for Panchayat, Zilla Parishad membership issued

The Manipur's Minority Affairs department has terminated the membership of Panchayats and Zilla Parishads.

The Manipur government on Tuesday notified the termination of membership of Panchayats and Zilla Parishads constituted after the 5th general panchayat election 2017 having completed five years term.

According to a release by the secretary of Minority Affairs, Government of Manipur, Ningthoujam Geoffrey, the membership of Md Nazimuddin, Up-Adhyaksha, Kakcing Zilla Parishad; Md Idris Ali, Pradhan, Turel Ahanbi Atoukhong Gram Panchayat and Fazal Khan, Pradhan, Wangkhem Gram Panchayat of Manipur State Haj Committee, nominated under the category of Muslim representatives of local bodies under section 18(1)(ii) of the Haj Committee Act, 2022, dated September 23, 2022, stands terminated.

The termination will come into effect from the date of the completion of the term of the said rural bodies, which is, five years from the date of the first meetings of the above rural bodies which were held in October 2017 in three different phases, the release stated.
