Manipur witnessed scorching temperature on Friday, with mercury levels soaring past 42 degrees Celsius in a district of the state.
According to the daily data provided by Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, government of Manipur, Noney district recorded the highest temperature at 42.16 degrees Celsius, followed by Imphal East, Churachandpur and Kakching recording 37.29, 37.59 and 37.01 degrees Celsius, respectively.
High temperatures were recorded in many districts across the state, with 8 out of 11 districts.
From 2015 till the current year, the maximum temperature reached 39 Degree Celsius. The temperature is higher in the western and southern parts of Manipur.
Average temperature rose by almost 5 Degree Celsius from the normal temperature in the southern part of Manipur during the last couple of days. Moreh recorded a maximum temperature of 40 Degree Celsius in 2015.
Just the other day, the state witnessed a climb in temperature at various districts with Noney reaching a maximum of 37.85 degree celsius, as per data collected from 7 pm of Wednesday to 6 pm of Thursday by the Directorate of Environment & Climate Change.
The relative humidity levels also hit above 90 per cent at various districts in the state, adding more discomfort to the residents. The highest temperature in the state was recorded in June with 38 degree celsius.
As per the data made available by the Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, temperature rose to 37.1 degree celsius in Churachandpur district and the minimum was recorded at 21.47 degree celsius. The maximum relative humidity in the district touched 94.85 per cent and a minimum of 54.54 per cent.
Kakching recorded a climb of 36.88 degree celsius and low of 22.72 while maximum relative humidity touched 96.24 per cent with a minimum of 47.26 per cent.
Temperature rose to 36.8 degree celsius in Imphal East and recorded a minimum of 23.07 degree celsius. The maximum relative humidity climbed to 97.04 per cent and minimum is recorded at 45.83 per cent in the district.
