Installation of 10-bed Intensive Care Units (ICU) has been completed in 14 districts across Manipur and Teli ICU has been set up and is functional in six of the 14 district hospitals namely JNIMS, Tamenglong, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Chandel and Churachandpur.
"Work is on for setting up the 10-bed ICU in all the districts, and Teli ICU will be set up in the remaining 10 district hospitals," Dr Rakesh Nongthombam of JNIMS said while reviewing the 10-Bed ICU Project Manipur during the valediction ceremony of Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care Programme.
The programme, organised by the 10 Bed ICU Project Manipur of the eGovt Foundation, was held at Teli ICU Hub at JNIMS Hospital in Imphal East on Tuesday.
The 10-bed ICU project is a social initiative focused on improving the critical healthcare infrastructure in the state, Dr Nongthombam said.
He also informed that the project aims to convert all existing ICU of JMIMS into Smart ICUs besides supporting JNIMS as a regional centre for Critical Care Training for Northeast.
Certificates were distributed to successful participants from the first batch of doctors and nurses who underwent an eight-week BASIC course during the programme followed by a 10-Bed ICU Project Manipur review session.
The function was also attended by director of Health Services, Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang; medical superintendent of JNIMS, Dr Kh Lokeshwor and state nodal officer of 10-Bed ICU Manipur, Dr Thoibahenba Sukham among others.
