Two new waste disposal trucks bought under 3rd state finance commission by Autonomous District Council, Tamenglong were inaugurated at Haipou Jadonang Park, Tamenglong by MLA Janghemlung Panmei on Thursday.
After the inaugural programme, a mass cleanliness drive was also carried out by the local MLA along the Tamenglong bazaar road.
Speaking on occasion, Janghemlung urged the citizens of Tamenglong to take responsibility in making the town area clean.
He appealed to the citizens to maintain cleanliness every day so that solid wastes do not get piled up in a large amount. He also urged all shops to pay some amount to contribute for the fuel to carry away the solid wastes.
Panmei also expressed his sincere thanks to the district council Tamenglong for bringing the most required vehicles which will make the town cleaner and look beautiful.
“If surrounding areas are clean, people will get fresh air and will become healthy, and the society will become stronger to compete with others,” he said.
Deputy commissioner Tamenglong Worshang Hungyo; chief executive officer ADC Tamenglong Ningreingam Lasan; sub-divisional officer Tamenglong Rohit Anand, workers and supporters of MLA Janghemlung Panmei attended the launching of vehicles and the cleanliness drive.
