The number of crime cases is increasing in Tamenglong district in Manipur. But, till today, the hill district with a population of 1,56,784 is deprived of a women police station.
A source told the Imphal Free Press that due to the lack of a women police station at the district headquarters, controlling law and order situation is difficult, as women are often in the frontline of any conflict situations.
Also, around 180 male police from Tamenglong district are utilised outside Tamenglong, the source said.
Lack of infrastructures and manpower are the main issues in the district police department.
Tamenglong police department has only one Additional Superintendent, no SDPOs, and around 100 others are transferred out soon after the election without any replacement, the source added.
