“The national flag will be formally hoisted atop the tallest flagpole in the northeast region at Moirang in the first week of January,” said Bobby.

The declaration came following the successful erection of the highest flagpole in Northeast India at Moirang by the chief minister. On April 14, 1944, the Indian National Army (INA), headed by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, hoisted its flag for the first time at Moirang.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh tweeted that the tallest Indian National Flag in the Northeast will be hoisted at Moirang, with a photo of the flagpole’s erection in Moirang. “It is a source of great pride for us to have built the tallest flagpole in the Northeast in Moirang,” the CM tweeted.

“The INA flag was hoisted for the first time at Moirang on April 14, 1944,” he stated.

The flag was hoisted by Colonel Shaukat Malik of the Indian National Army (INA) in 1944. At Moirang, work on the Indian National Army Museum (INAM) War Memorial is also underway.

The statement was made by the CM after the successful installation of the tallest flagpole in Northeast India at Moirang.
