Tackling Malnutrition: What every woman must know

A consultation programme on Poshan Panchayat (Engaging Panchayats to tackle malnutrition at grassroot) was held at Ima Takyel Lairembi Community Hall, Imphal West.

The need for every woman to understand the significance of maintaining a balanced diet was stressed during a one-day consultation programme on Poshan Panchayat (Engaging Panchayats to tackle malnutrition at grassroot) was held on Friday at Ima Takyel Lairembi Community Hall, Imphal West.

Addressing the function, member of MSCW, T Chougsin Koireng said that the programme was held with an objective to keep every woman healthy by way of consuming a balanced diet. Every woman should strictly follow a balanced diet in their daily life, she said.

She said that women of the state are very hard-working, playing a key role in the upliftment of the socio-economy of the state. While keeping their family and society as their top priority, women of the state usually forget to think of their own well-being, she said.

She continued that for the welfare of the society, every woman should keep their health strong. For this, there is a need to maintain a balanced diet to prevent one from any kind of deficiency diseases, Chougsin Koireng said, adding that each and every woman should understand how to maintain a balanced diet and its significance.

The programme was organised by Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) under the sponsorship of National Commission for Women (NCW).

Member of MSCW, Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang; member of MSCW, Lourembam Dayabati Devi; secretary of TUBO Club, Takyel Khongban Mayai Leikai, Ngangbam Gopal Singh and ex-member of Ward Number IV, Takyel Gram Panchayat, Sanjenbam Memcha attended the event as presidium members.

PGT, Community Medicine Department of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Dr I Homendro Singh and supervisor of ICDS Project, (SW) Lamshang, Imphal West, O Momota Devi were the resource persons of the programme.
