The NSS Unit 1 of St Joseph College, Ukhrul conducted a social work at the Ukhrul District Hospital as a part of the ongoing Swachaata Hi Seva campaign on Monday.
The campaign, which emphasizes cleanliness and community service, saw the participation of 80 dedicated volunteers, led by Masopam Kasar, Programme Officer (PO).
Under the guidance and supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Ukhrul, the volunteers carried out extensive cleaning of the hospital premises, including drainages and nullahs surrounding the facility. Their efforts not only contributed to maintaining sanitation and hygiene at the hospital but also raised awareness about hygienic public spaces in the town.
The Medical Superintendent (MS) of the District Hospital appreciated the volunteers’ contributions and generously provided refreshments to the team. The initiative signifies collaborative effort of educational institutions and healthcare facilities in promoting community welfare.
The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign has been running since 17th September. The campaign will close on 2nd October 2024, commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi envisioning a clean India.
