One sub-inspector Th Bungbung posted at Irilbung police station was on Saturday suspended for “misconduct and dereliction of duty.”
The suspension order issued and signed by superintendent of police, Imphal East Ksh Shivakanta Singh stated that personnel was suspended in exercise of power conferred upon him under Rule 66 of Assam Police Manual Part-III.
It mentioned that the suspension order will be effected immediately until further order.
It stated during the period of suspension, the headquarter of sub-inspector Th Bungbung will be Reserve Line, Porompat, Imphal East, and he will not leave his headquarter without obtaining the prior permission of superintendent of police, Imphal East district.
Further, he will be entitled subsistence allowance as admissible under rules during the period of suspension, it added.

Earlier, Disable Development Association (DDA) in a press conference had alleged that a differently abled 48-year-old man with locomotors issues along with his son were allegedly assaulted by police officers inside Irilbung police station on March 14 for refusing to withdraw a forgery complaint that was filed before the police station.
As per sources, following the complaint lodged before the police station, the investigating officer of the case summoned the complainant Abdul Hakim, who has 85 per cent permanent disability of both his hands and limbs (as per disability certificate) on March 14.
“As I refused to withdraw the case, the investigating officer Md Hantif Shah and 2nd OC of the police station Th Bungbung started assaulting me by kicking off my chair and hitting me and my son with canes,” Hakim alleged, narrating the incident before the media at Manipur Press Club, Imphal on Thursday.
On March 15, a formal complaint was also lodged to the DGP and the SP, Imphal East for legal action against the two police officers on grounds of allegedly assaulting a physically handicapped person and taking bribe from the opponent party.
The DDA further demanded justice against such harassment to a differently abled person and appealed to the state government to initiate stringent action against the two police officers for their alleged crime.
