The planned demarcation process of the boundary of Modern College, Imphal East failed after the students of the college took up a sit-in protest in front of the college on Wednesday against the demarcation process.
As per the order issued by the Court of Assistant Survey and Settlement Officer, the demarcation process of the college boundary was scheduled at 8 am April 26 following a case lodged by former MLA of Thongju, Bijoy Koijam.
“The college has had its own boundary since 1963, we will not give even an inch of the college’s land to anybody,” said games and sports secretary of Modern College Student’s Union N Lamyanba Mangang while speaking to the media.
The college community denies entry of outsiders which is not related to education matters, he added.
Appealing to the authority concerned, especially the Education minister to look into the matter and save the college’s land from encroachers, he also sought the support of the public in safeguarding the boundary of the college.
Earlier on April 21, the students of the college had also demonstrated human-chain protest in front of the college against the scheduled demarcation process.
