To prevent another massive landslide from occurring in the state, the ministry concerned has been taking up necessary technical measures along the railway lines in Manipur, said Union Railway Minister Ashwani Kumar on Friday.
The Railway minister was briefing the Parliamentary floor in response to the supplementary question raised by MP Rajya Sabha Leishemba Sanajaoba during the question hour in the ongoing monsoon parliamentary session.

Seeking information from the Union Railway minister, Leishemba asked the question through the chairman of the Upper House concerning the massive landslide that occurred at a railway construction site, Marangching, Noney district, Manipur on the intervening night of May 29-30.
In the incident, over 50 people, including territorial army, railway staff and some villagers died and three more bodies are yet to be recovered, he said. He asked what necessary measures have been taken up by the ministry concerned to prevent reoccurence of similar incidents in Manipur.

Responding to the supplementary question, Ashwani Kumar informed the House that the ministry has been taking necessary technical measures along the railway lines constructed in Manipur as precautionary measures.
He also extended his gratitude towards Chief Minister N Biren Singh for his involvement during the rescue mission by going to the site.
The railway project is one of the important projects which will bring development in the north-eastern region, including Manipur, and the project will be successful, Ashwani added.
