Speculations are rife over the surprise visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s blue-eyed boy Mansukh Mandaviya in Manipur and his trip to Churachandpur.
The Union Minister left Imphal on Sunday. Sources said, the minister was in Imphal to assess the ground situation of the conflict in Manipur.
Mansukh Mandaviya is presently the Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Youth Affairs & Sports Minister. He was in charge of Health and Family Welfare during the Covid days.
The Union Minister landed in Imphal on Saturday afternoon and met the state Chief Minister, N Biren Singh, before proceeding to Churachandpur on Sunday.
The Union Minister’s visit assumed significance in the background of Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s recent tete-e-tete with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on the sidelines of Chief Minister’s Conclave at BJP Hqs.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh did not divulge the details of the meeting with the PM, in which Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also present.
Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited Churachandpur on Sunday and held interactions with district level officers at DC’s Conference Hall, Mini-Secretariat, Tuibong.
Churachandpur, deputy commissioner Dharun Kumar and additional deputy commissioner Thangboi Gangte briefed Mansukh Mandaviya on the activities and achievements of various departments in the district pertaining to implementation of various schemes and the law and order situation.
He suggested inputs to ensure more effective implementations of schemes in the district. Later, he distributed sports materials to internally displaced persons residing in various relief camps.
He also held an interaction with the representatives of various students’ bodies of the district.
He also planted a tree inside the Mini-Secretariat campus as part of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan before his departure.
