SIMS Rape Case: Anticipatory bail applications reserved till August 31

The court directed all the accused persons to appear before the court on August 31.

Session judge Imphal West on Thursday reserved the anticipatory bail applications filed by the co-accused persons in the alleged rape of a student by MD of Saina Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) Yumnam Surjitkumar Mangang till August 31. 

The three co-accused persons are guest lecturers Sonia Yambem alias Nonibala Chanu, aged about 29 years, daughter of Y Kulla of Bamon Kampu Yambem Leikai; Laishram Kunjarani Devi, 28, daughter of Laishram Ibopishak Singh of Top Khongmakhong and assistant director S K Wajid Shah of Saina Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), Porompat.  

After hearing both parties in length, the court directed all the accused persons to appear before the court on August 31.

It may be mentioned that the co-accused were granted interim pre-arrest bail by the same court. 

Meanwhile, womenfolk and locals of the victim student gathered in front of the Cheirap Court complex and chanted various slogans, demanding befitting punishments to the accused persons and deny any form of bail.
