Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang Golay arrived in Imphal, Manipur on Friday to attend the historic Shandmashik Vishwa Shanti Mahayagya at Santolabari, Manipur. The chief minister was accompanied by Sikkim Minister for Commerce and Industries, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Bedu Singh Panth, MP Raju Bista from Darjeeling and SD Dhakal Ji, secretary to the chief minister.
The team was given a warm welcome with Manipuri martial art Thang-Ta performance at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal.
On reaching Imphal, Golay tweeted: "Arrived at Imphal International Airport to attend the historic Shandmashik Vishwa Shanti Mahayagya at Santolabari, Manipur. My gratitude to the Hon’ble MP @RajuBistaBJP & the state protocol officers for the warm welcome and hospitality".
The Sikkim chief minister along with the other dignitaries visited Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh at the CM's official residence. Announcing the visit, Biren said in tweet: "I was called on by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, @PSTamangGolay Ji, Hon'ble Minister from Sikkim, Bedu Singh Panth Ji, Hon'ble Darjeeling MP, @RajuBistaBJP Ji, and SD Dhakal Ji, Secretary to CM," he said.
In another tweet, Biren said that the Northeast states will continue to work together as connectivity is being enhanced in the region in the effort to make Northeast the "growth engine" of India.
"As Northeast Indian states get closer with enhanced connectivity, we will continue to work together to fulfil Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji’s vision of making North East the growth engine of the Nation," he tweeted.
