Shija Hospitals on Thursday celebrated its 75th Kidney Transplant in Manipur with Managing Director of the institute, Dr Palin stating that there will be further developments in infrastructure and medical facilities at Shija Hospital. He also informed that there will soon be facilities for liver transplants.
Speaking at the event, Dr Palin stated that so far 75 patients have successfully gone through kidney transplants at Shija hospital after the first kidney transplant was successfully conducted in August of 2016 and the 75th transplant conducted on December 7, 2022.
“The hospital has completed 75 kidney transplants successfully to date, including one ABO- incompatible transplant, which is the first in North East India”, said Palin.
With 68 patients from Manipur, six from Nagaland and one from Myanmar successfully treated, Shija Hospital has been recognised as the referral centre by the Governments of Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram for treatment, including renal transplant, said Dr Palin.
Further, he mentioned that the hospital has provided 55520 CMHT and 32700 PMJAY dialysis to date. Also, the hospital offers comprehensive treatment for all types of kidney disorders and is equipped with high-end dialysis technologies like CRRT, SLED, etc with 41 dialysis machines which Palin stated the number will increase in the future.
He also mentioned that the hospital will start kidney transplants from deceased or cadaveric donors shortly.
