On the occasion of Independence Day, 2024, seven Manipur Police officers and personnel have been awarded with the ‘Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM)’ medals by the Мinistry of Home Аffairs.
The seven personnel are Maibam Somorjit Singh, Jemadar, 1 IRB, Chalamba Singh Ngangom, ASI, SPT, Ashok Singh Oinam, Havildar, 8th MR, Bonomali Singh Khangembam, Havildar, 6th IRB, Rojen Singh Mayanglambam, Havildar, 10th IRB, Rinkahao Ruivah, Rifleman, 6th MR, Premjit Singh Potshangbam, Rifleman, 6th IRB, Nongthombam Biseswor Singh, Rifleman, 4th IRB, stated a release issued by the Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Wednesday.
It may be mentioned that two Indian Army officers, namely Lt col Mutum Ajoy Meitei of 5th Bn Ladakh Scouts and Major Sougrakpam Rishikesh Singh of Engg Corps have been awarded with Sena Medal.
Meanwhile, two BSF personnel who were killed in the line of duty and one who was injured in ethnic clashes in Manipur have been awarded the police medal for gallantry. The awardees include late constables Narender Kumar and Ranjit Yadav, and Assistant Commandant Ashok Kumar, along with three other personnel.
As a part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, Manipur Police organised a bike rally participated by about 4,000 individuals consisting of Manipur Police officers and personnel, youths from different bikers’ clubs of the State including from far flung districts, in about 2,000 motorcycles, it mentioned.
The rally was flagged off by the Chief Minister N Biren Singh from Hapta Kangjeibung, Imphal East and culminated at Chengei Lampak, Moirang, Bishnupur district with distribution of certificates to the bike riders by DGP Manipur, it said.
It mentioned that search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.
During the search operations, one 5.56 mm INSAS Rifle with magazine, one 12-Bore single Barrel gun, one 32 Pistol with magazine, five HE-36 Hand Grenade without detonators along with two arming ring, one tube launching, two MK-III A2 green, one Motorola Walkie Talkie, three IED weighing 7.940 kg approx., 25 live ammunition rounds, one 9mm magazine were seized from Yairipok Gwarok Hill, Thoubal district, it mentioned.
Three Smoke bombs, five stun shell, two tear smoke shell, five smoke shell (CS), two Grenade without detonator, two single Barrel Gun, two pompi, one local made small pipe Gun, five miscellaneous items were also sized from Moltinchan village, Kakching district, it stated.
One .32 pistol with magazine, nine pompi, one country made 12-bore rifle, one single Bore Rifle, one Catapult gun, five Pompi live rounds, fifty-six live ammunition rounds, 71 empty cases, four Tube Launching, four Cartridge Signal 16 mm, six charger clips 7.62 mm, two BAOFENG Radio Handset, one Improvise Hand Grenade, six grenade arming ring, one grenade Cap, three explosive candle type, one INSAS Magazine, six BP Jacket, four magazine pouch, two Training Wooden DP rifles from Changsang mid hill, Imphal East, it added.
