As the state continues to witness an increase in sporadic incidents of violence and killings, especially over the past few days, seven companies of central forces have arrived in Imphal in an effort to quell the worst violence boiling in the state in years.

According to sources, two CRPF companies and one ITBP company arrived in the state on Sunday, in addition to the three CRPF companies and one SSB which were sent to the state on Saturday.

Meanwhile, three BSF companies are reportedly en route to Imphal via road, sources added.
