Director General of Police P Doungel on Wednesday announced that security measures being taken up to prevent unwanted incidents in the state will continue.
Speaking to the media at the conference hall of his office, he said that as preventive measures ahead of Republic day celebrations, the Manipur police has been taking up various security measures including house-to-house search operations, cordon and search operation at several areas as well as frisking and checking at random places including during the night time at various areas of the state.
Meanwhile, house-to-house search operations as well as cordon and search operations were conducted at two different areas of Imphal city on Wednesday.
A team of Imphal West district commando conducted house-to-house search operation and verification of bailouts and individuals at the adjoining areas of Kwakeithel Moirang Purel, Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai Machin and Khagempalli Panthak from 6.10 to 8 am.
Around 80 houses were searched and around 155 individuals including 4 bail-outs from different underground outfits were verified.
The same team also conducted search operations at Maharani bridge covering Wahengbam Leikai parking area; Samu Makhong area; Masjid road and Uripok Chakri Kom area from 8.20 am to 8.50 am.
During the activity, around 157 individuals were detained and verified. Seven individuals were further detained and handed over to City Police station for further verification.
The detainees were freed after verification.
