Security forces deployed along NH-37 for safe transportation of goods

Security forces have been deployed along National Highway-37 in a bid to ensure safety of transport drivers and safe transportation of goods, sources said.

Earlier on Friday, Transporters and Drivers’ Council (TDC) president T Ranjit on Friday announced that Chief Minister N Biren Singh had assured to deploy security forces at vulnerable areas along NH-37 for the safety of transporters.

Ranjit told the media at its head office located at MG Avenue, Imphal that the chief minister made the assurance to TDC during a meeting. The TDC representatives were led by its president T Ranjit Singh.

The prevailing issues and problems being faced by the highway transporters while transporting essential commodities were placed during the meeting, he said.

In view of the problems faced by the transport drivers along national highway-37, N Biren assured to deploy a permanent post at Keithelmanbi and other vulnerable areas along the national highway, he said.

He further said that the transporters can get information through the secretary of TDC for the safety of the drivers.

Ranjit also appealed to the transport drivers to drive safely while transporting essential commodities and other items and transport the essential commodities for the entire people of Manipur.
