A combined security force seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition on Monday from Thoubal District.
According to police, a joint team of Special Operation Group (SOG) Thoubal District Police along with 5-9 Gorkha rifles launched a massive Operation at foothills of Leirongthel Pitra Lok Macha from 4.10 am to 6 am.
During the search operation, the team seized two 9mm SMG with magazine, two 9 mm pistols, one .32 pistol, two.303 rifles (country made), one 12 bore single barrel gun, six 36 live hand, three live MK III A 2 Grenade, six live tear smoke rounds, five 12 bore live cartridges, fifteen live 9 mm ball rounds, forty 7.62x 39 mm rounds, forty four 7.62 mm live rounds, three live .32 ball rounds, twelve live 5.56 Insas Live rounds, one tube launcher, two 36 hand Grenade detonator, two MK III A2 Grenade detonator and one hand set marked as Baofeng.
The seized items were handed to Nongpok Sekmai Police Station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, a combined security force seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition concealed in one white bag on Monday from a secluded area in Kakching district.
According to police, a joint team of CDO Unit Kakching under the command of OC-CDO Kakching led by OC Wangoo Police Station and a team of 131 battalion of BSF, G-Coy, 46 Assam Rifles Pangaltabi conducted joint operation at Chairel Khunou Heirikokthong Hill from 9.09 am to 9.55 am.
During the search operation, the team seized two.36 HE Grenade, one Carbine Magazine, one ‘PARA’ 2 Mortar Shell, six Tear Smoke Shell, one Anti-Riot Cartridge, two Smoke Grenade, one Helmet, three Detonators, one 12 Bore Cartridge and four Treasure Round.
A case has been registered at Wangoo Police Station for further investigation.
