Security beefed up ahead of vice-president's proposed visit to Imphal

Imphal West district commando conducted cordon and search operation at different areas of the district early Saturday.

In view of the security measures taken in connection with the proposed Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu’s visit to Imphal, district commando, Imphal West conducted cordon and search operation at different areas of the district early Saturday.

A team of district police commando assisted by Singjamei police conducted search operation at Ningombam area from 6.30 am to 8.30 am. During the operation, around 65 houses were searched and 160 individuals verified.

Another district commando team assisted by Lamphel police also conducted similar operation at Tera Khamnam Leirak and Moirang Hanuba leirak from 6.30 am to 8.30 am. During the operation, around 100 houses were searched and 150 individuals verified, including six bailouts.

Later, another team of district commando led by officer-in-charge, commando, Imphal West, conducted similar operation at bazaar area, Jalal crossing from 7.50 am to 8.20 am. In the operation around 55 individuals were verified.

However, no individuals were detained during the whole operation conducted under the supervision of superintendent of police, Imphal West, S Ibomcha at different areas.

Naidu is likely to visit Manipur Tuesday next. However, his schedule to visit the state is yet to announced yet.
