Cordon and search operations were being intensified at various areas of the state as preventive measures ahead of the Republic Day celebration on January 26.
District police commando, Imphal East, including women commando personnel, conducted house-to- house search operation and verification of occupants in the area of Hatta Golapati river bank from 6.30 am to 8 am of Sunday.
About 65 houses were searched and around 350 individuals were verified but no one was detained during the operation.
District commando Thoubal along with a police team of Heirok police station and women police also conducted house-to-house operations at Salungpham Maning Leikai area from 5.30 am to 7 am.
The police team searched around 70 houses and 270 individuals were verified during the operation. No individuals were detained and no unwanted incident occurred.
Similarly, a house-to-house search operation was also conducted at Thangmeiband area of Sinam Leikai, Hijam Dewan Leikai and Yumnam Leikai by its district commando and a team of Imphal police station from 6 am to 8 am.
The police team searched around 90 houses and 120 individuals were verified. Of the total verified persons, five were picked up for further verification and handed over to Imphal police station.
