The second annual conference of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Manipur was held at Rotary Bhavan, Mantripukhri on Sunday.
Speaking at the occasion, BVP national president Gajendra Singh Sandhu stated that there is a need to understand the concept of the unity of the country. He also stressed on the practice of the concept of unity in diversity in different parts of India irrespective of state, caste, creed, language or religion.
It may be mentioned that Bharat Vikas Parishad is a voluntary organisation where citizens from all walks of life join to work for the development and growth of our country in all fields of human endeavour through promoting a sense of patriotism, national unity and integrity and culminating in physically, economically and morally strong India.
In Manipur, BVP Manipur Prant was established in the year 1999. They have nine Shakha, namely Imphal, Bazar Mahila, Lingthoingambi Mahila, Bishenpur, Moirang, Thanga, Kangpokpi, Thoubal and Wabagai, with 266active members.
Work/ Activities of BVP can be broadly categorised into service (Sewa) and educational (Sanskar).
Serving the Divyang by providing them artificial limbs and wheelchairs, organising health checkup and yoga camps, blood donation, protecting environment by planting trees, and whenever there is a national calamity, provide necessary help and undertaker relief measures are some of the important service projects. Beti Bachao - Beti Padhao and Nasha Mukti are also their social campaigns.
Also, educational (Sanskar) project for students, BVP organised Bharat ko Jano quiz competition and chorus singing of Patriotic songs competition and organized programmes in schools where students pay respect to their teachers.
As a part of the programme, a wheelchair was presented to Soibam (O) Ibeni Devi, 66, of Lilong Arapti Awang Leikai which was donated by N Muhindro Singh and Ch Amita Devi Luwangsangbam.
The second annual conference of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Manipur Prant was also attended by N Rajmuhon Singh, Vice Chancellor, Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal; Dr H Priyoshakhi Devi, president BVP, Manipur Prant & director, RIMS and Suresh Jain, national organising secretary, BVP among others.
