The sun was finally up and the sky was absolute blue on Thursday after several days of dark rainy weather condition that posed a major challenge to the search and rescue operation in the Makhuam landslide tragedy. And, the seach for the missing persons continued relentlessly and hopefully, but not one body was found on day eight of the rescue operation launched after the tragic incident that took place on the intervening night of 29-30 June.
The search and rescue team, including local volunteers, continued the search for the 13 missing persons in the landslide debris tirelessly, but not one body could be recovered on Thursday, according to sources at ground zero.
One body was retrieved from Ijei river on Wednesday. As many as 48 bodies, including personnel of the 107 Territorial Army, have been recovered, while 18 people have been rescued from the landslide debris so far.
