School headmaster suspended for not serving mid-day meals to students

Students of a school in Kakching district of Manipur said mid-day meals under the PM-POSHAN Scheme were not served regularly.

A primary teacher, who is the headmaster in-charge of Sora High School, Kakching district, Manipur, Azad Khan has been placed under suspension with immediate effect for not serving mid-day meals to the students regularly.

According to an order issued by L Nandakumar Singh, director of Education (S), Manipur, a team of officials from the Education department inspected the school on December 6, and submitted the findings that the headmaster could not produce relevant documents relating to the distribution of mid-day meals.

According to the students, the mid-day meals under the PM-POSHAN Scheme were not served regularly but occasionally, as per the issue.

The headmaster is being contemplated relating to the mismanagement regarding the scheme.

The order stated that Azad Khan’s headquarters would be his concerned zone and he is not allowed to leave the headquarters without obtaining prior permission from the director.
