The Deputy General Manager, Shillong Module, State Bank of India, Samir Kant Jha visited Churachandpur on Tuesday and attended the SBI Customer Connect programme which was also attended by the DC of Churachandpur and valued customer of SBI as well as others at Mini Auditorium , EBC Centenary Hall, New Lamka.
On the occasion, the DGM asked the SBI staff to be vigilant while asking customers not to ever share their OTP/Password to any one which, infact, had led to financial loss of many customers in the past. He also asked them to report any irregularities in their SBI bank account so that corrective measures may be taken. The Digital age is here and we have to learn to live with it, he added.
The DGM also said that they are a private sector bank dealing with public money where the public deposit and they give out loans. As such, the customers are bound to repay their loan without default which, otherwise, can affect their CIBIL Score that will result in them being devoid of taking bank loans in any private sector bank in India.
He also said that one of the reasons why customers of SBI should repay in time was due to the fact that, if they don’t repay in time they, SBI, can’t proceed to give loans to other customers in need. He also highlighted the need for Financial Discipline for which SBI stands and through which customers can grow with SBI.
On the occasion, Churachandpur DC Dharun Kumar welcomed the SBI DGM who braved the current situation to come to Churachandpur and said that financial empowerment is one of the most important aspects in any given society or to individuals. He also asked the SBI to continue their efforts in the district for financial empowerment to the masses while also asking the people of the district to help in creating a conducive environment for the bankers, in general, to work for the people.
The programme also witnessed the handing out of bicycles to five students in the district which was made through ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP)’ a scheme of the Government of India that was made by SBI under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Under the SBI CSR initiatives, two girls from KSO Community centre of Tuibong, two girls from SSPP Residential School of New Lamka and one girl from Royal Academy, Phailian, were given the bicycles to further their studies. The programme also witnessed the product campaign of Amrit Vrishti Yoma, WhatsApp Banking and Contact Center by PO, SBI Churachandpur Christine Ngaithiansiam.
