The first SAHS Northeast India Public Health Conference (SAPHCON) 2023 began on Friday at the Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS) in Langol, Imphal West.
The event was organised by SAHS under the theme, "Climate Changes and Public Health Challenges". The conference will continue till Saturday.
Delivering the chief guest speech of the inaugural function, vice-chancellor of MU Prof N Lokendra said that the theme of the conference is very suitable with climate changes which has become a global issue.
Climate change has today given a big impact to the creatures living on this earth, he said, adding, “The more humans march towards civilization, the more impact is given to the environment, which is the factor of climate change”.
As a result, the people need to give importance to conserving the environment while advancing towards development, he added.
He said, it is believed that the conference will help in creating a big awareness on conserving nature and in fighting climate changes in the society.
The programme was also attended by director of SAHS Dr M Amuba, board of director of Shija Hospital and Research Institute and SAHS Dr S Jugindra and chairman of SAPHCON Dr T Ghambir as presidium members.
