Sajibu Cheiraoba Restrictions: Religious ceremonies can be performed after district magistrate gives nod

Ritual activities will be allowed after permission at Cheiraoching, Thangmeiband; Pishum Chinga and Singjamei.

As a part of the COVID-19 precautionary measures, the district magistrate, Imphal West district has ordered that ritual or religious ceremonies for ‘Sajibu Cheiraoba’ that falls on April 13 and April 14 can only be performed after getting the permission from the office of the district magistrate or State Home Department.

It said that ritual activities will be allowed after permission at Cheiraoching, Thangmeiband; Pishum Chinga, Singjamei; stretch of Langol hill at Iroisemba; Heibok Mahadev; Heibokching, LANGTHABAL Phura Makhong; Langjing; and Machin Manao Ching, Bamgiyar on the particular dates.

The guidelines for effective control of COVID-19 are to be implemented from April 1 to April 30 in the state, issued by the Home Department, Government of Manipur.  There is a restriction of gathering for religious, sports, entertainment and cultural events or functions to 100 and less persons, it added.

It further said that as per compliance of the order passed by High Court of Manipur, relatives of the nine deceased persons, who were killed at Malom incident on April 13, 1982, are to be allowed to enter and pay homage at the Memorial Tomb at Cheiraoching, Thangmeiband on April 13 after their antecedents are screened or verified by the concerned police authorities.
