Saikul MLA Kimneo to streamline Anganwadi Centre beneficiary’s villages

With an aim to streamline the Anganwadi Centre beneficiary’s villages under the 46-Saikul assembly constituency, the local MLA held a meeting with representatives of the said villages on Friday.

The meeting was also attended by CDPO, Saikul ICDS Project M Leimatombi Devi and Supervisors of ICDS Project Saikul Lucy Khongsai, Lamneithem Doungel and Ng. Nungshitombi apart from other Anganwadi workers, helpers, and staff of ICDS Project Saikul.

The ICDS staff present in the meeting highlighted the various verbal complaints lodged by the Anganwadi Centre beneficiaries in connection with the construction works of the centres within the Saikul assembly constituency.

The representatives of the sixty-two Anganwadi Centre beneficiary villages also expressed their dissatisfaction over the opening of joint accounts in connection with the construction of the Anganwadi Centre building in their name without their knowledge and consent signature.

They also appealed to the local MLA for her immediate intervention over the matter.

After serious deliberation, it was unanimously resolved that, since the joint bank accounts of the respective Anganwadi Centre beneficiary’s villages are opened without their knowledge and consent signature, the concerned department shall be informed and all such joint bank accounts shall be put on hold with immediate effect.

It was also resolved to submit a resolution to the Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi for further investigation and necessary legal action since the financial assistance sanctioned for the construction of Anganwadi centres had been embezzled.

The meeting also unanimously resolved to open a fresh joint bank account for all the sixty-two Anganwadi Centres beneficiary’s villages as per norms and guidelines for proper implementation of the project.
