Police on Saturday arrested RTI activist Wahengbam Joykumar of Wangkhei, Imphal East district in connection with the murder of Manipur BJP ex-servicemen cell general secretary (Convenor) Laishram Rameshwor Singh. Rameshwor was allegedly shot dead by unknown assailants at the gate of his residence at Thoubal Kshetri Leikai, Thoubal district on January 23.
Thoubal police had earlier arrested the main accused Ayekpam Keshorjit, 46, son of (L) A Kunjo from Haobam Marak Irom Leikai, Imphal West and another Naorem Ricky Pointing Singh alias Amu, 24, son of N Kesho from Keinou Thongkha Maning Leikai, Bishnupur district, presently staying at Haobam Marak Irom Leikai, Imphal West.
A licensed gun, a .32 pistol, two magazines and nine .32 bullets were seized from his possession. Ayekpam Keshorjit’s wife had claimed that her husband was a RTI activist and he shot L Rameshwor in self-defence.
Sources said, Joykumar was picked up in relation to his FB posts regarding the killing.
