Chief Minister N Biren Singh said the Union Budget 2022 was announced to bring welfare for the needy people and that Rs 560 crore was included for upgradation of Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS).
The chief minister was speaking to the media during a press conference held at the state BJP office located at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal on Wednesday.
Biren said the Union Budget 2022 will surely bring a change for the people of the country, including Manipur in different sectors including health sector, skill development, sports and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
The chief minister said the budget included Rs 1,500 crore to bring development in livelihood activities for the north eastern states, including Manipur where Rs 560 crore was included for upgradation of RIMS including upgradation of manpower of the institute.
During the UPA government, only 70,000 kilometres of National Highway was constructed. During the last seven years of the NDA government, 50,000 kilometres of national highway was constructed, he added.
In the budget, there is provision for upgradation of information technology, including upgradation of internet services to 5G, Biren said, adding that the union budget 2022 will bring a change in the development not only in Manipur but also in the entire country.
