Modi Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) foiled smuggling of drugs in Chandel district, Manipur on Sunday. Brown sugar weighing 600 gm and worth Rs 42 lakh was seized.
A release issued by IGAR-(S) stated that based on specific input regarding the movement of contraband items in Libung, Chandel district, a special operations team was launched.

After carrying out specific search of the area and road ide, the party discovered a bag concealed under thick foliage. On examining, the bag was found with 15 soap cases of brown sugar, it stated.
The seized 15 soap cases contained approximately 600 gm of Brown Sugar worth Rs 42 lakh. Seized contraband was handed over to Tengnoupal PS for further investigation, it added.
